BeginningsLike the Tri-Wizard Tournament participants Jennifer hails from 3 different places; Virginia, California and Florida.
With both parents being Marine Corps officers she never stayed in one place for longer than 3 years bouncing around and between Virginia and California until Dad retired, then it was all about FLA! Moving all over is never easy, but performing helped more than anything. She started in dance way back at the age of 3 with her first show, The Pussy Cat Polka. Yup, that happened. And she loved every minute! Later, in preschool she was asked the proverbial, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" When she didn't have an answer she turned to her hero at the time: Miss Piggy! "What does she do, Mom?" she asked one night. "She's an actress." Her mom replied, not knowing the seed she was planting. But that was all it took. And now you are staring at this website wondering, "Really?! Miss Piggy?!" |
It Starts
Ok, now I am going to stop talking about myself like my life is being narrated by Morgan Freeman. Obviously, I could never afford him, but wouldn't that be GREAT!?
I really dove into acting when my family moved for the last time and I reached my final high school. I performed in every show presented during my 3 years, including Scheme of the Driftless Shifter, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The True Story of Cinderella, and many others. From there I was accepted to Florida State University where I earned my BA in Theatre with a minor in Classics. I was fortunate enough to study abroad at FSU's London campus as well. I would do another nerdy "Boy Who Lived" joke but that would be too expected. Of course I went to find Platform 9 3/4 and it wasn't there! Back at FSU, I perfomed in small student productions and finally made my Fallon Main Stage debut in Charlotte's Web. |
And Just Keeps GoingAfter graduation I moved to Roanoke, VA where I performed in several community theatre productions, including Sweeney Todd and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. I then moved out to Virginia Beach, accepting a small role in Hamptons Roads Shakespeare Festival's production of The Tempest and an assistant director/actor role in their The Complete History Of Virginia Beach Abridged children's show. Then came my long love affair with Northern Michigan and a small professional company, Thunder Bay Theater. There was a small break between interludes with TBT where I performed outdoor summer stock with Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre then headed back to TBT for my favorite role ever, Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire.
From Northern Michigan it was time for the Big Apple! I moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn before Lena Dunham, HBO's Girls, and Smash moved in and have been doing shows and reading in NYC ever since...5 years now! |
